Pain is an inevitable part of life, but how we respond to it can make all the difference. In this post, I explore the Buddhist parable of the two arrows, which teaches us how we can choose not to turn our pain into suffering. Through mindfulness, we can learn to be present with our pain and release the suffering that comes from our reactions.
When life sends us a painful experience (the first arrow), it’s easy to follow up with a second arrow—our emotional reactions and negative thoughts. Mindfulness helps us to pause, acknowledge our pain, and prevent that second arrow from deepening our suffering.
In this post, I share how you can practice mindfulness in the face of pain, focusing on acceptance, presence, and letting go of the stories that cause more hurt.
